Full Time Deputy Sheriff

The Furnas County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for the position of full-time Deputy Sheriff (entry-level or certified).
Deputy Sheriffs perform a wide range of duties including, but not limited to: routine patrol of Furnas County, criminal and traffic investigations, enforcement of state laws, traffic regulation, service of civil process, and ordinance enforcement under municipal contracts. Deputies are also responsible for community engagement, assisting motorists, responding to emergencies, and supporting other public safety agencies when needed.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 21 years of age
- Valid driver's license
- No felony or serious misdemeanor convictions
- Good moral character and sound physical condition
- Ability to pass the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center (NLETC) physical fitness test, oral interview, TABE test, psychological evaluation, and extensive background check
Uncertified applicants must meet entrance standards for the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Starting wage for certified deputies: $23.84/hour
