Jail and Inmate Information
Items allowed to be mailed or brought to the facility:
- Religious Items such as a bible from vendor only, crucifix (no stones), etc.
- Money (cash or money order only)
- Eyeglasses/ Contacts/ Inhaler
- Wedding Ring (no stones)
- Unopened legal mail
- Items approved by Administration
Inmate phone service is provided by ENCARTELE, all calls are subject to monitoring and recording. If you are an attorney and require privileged call the facility at 308-268-6112

Visitation
- Schedule family members and friends may contact the Sheriff’s Office and schedule a time to visit. Visitation time will be Tuesday – Friday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. There will be no visitation from 11:00-12:00 for lunch. Excluding court days and holidays. Visitation will be shut down by 3:00 pm.
- Visiting is subject to the following rules and any other posted rules:
- Visitors must be at least eighteen (18) years old. If under eighteen (18) he/she must be accompanied by his/her parent(s) or legal guardian and must provide documentation such as a birth certificate as proof.
- Visitors must have a picture identification with them.
- Visitors must register at the public lobby counter.
- Any item brought to the Jail for an inmate must be turned over to a staff member prior to the visit.
- No food, drink or smoking will be permitted in the visiting area.
- Visitors are subject to be searched. Charges will be filed for any attempt to smuggle or introduce contraband into the Correctional Facility.
- You will be subject to a search before and after a contact visit.
- Any disruptive behavior including intoxication, use of profanity, or failure to comply with a staff member’s instructions by either the inmate or the visitor will be cause for termination of the visiting session and/or restriction on future visitation.
- Visitors will not be allowed into any other area of the Jail.
- Visitation is on a first come basis.
- Visitors may sign up for visitation up to thirty (30) minutes prior to the scheduled visitation time. The visitor must remain in the lobby area once signed in.
- Visitors must be properly dressed. Both adults and children must always wear shoes. No halter tops, no swimsuits, no short shorts. You, the inmate, are required to wear shoes, pants, and a shirt or jumpsuit.
- All persons who are under the age of eighteen (18) must be supervised by an adult at all times.
- Children who accompany an adult in the visitation room must stay in the visitation room until the visit is over. Children are not allowed to run in and out of the visitation room.
- Children who are disrupting other visitors will cause that visit to be terminated and possible restrictions on future visitation.
- Taking food or drinks into the visitation cell may cause the visit to be terminated.
- Any offensive language used in the lobby may result in that individual being restricted from visiting for a period of time.
- No personal items are allowed in the visitation area.
- Cell phones, Cameras, and recording devices are prohibited.
- Any obscene gestures or behaviors are prohibited and will be cause for termination of the visit.
- Visitors must register at the public lobby desk
- Special visits outside of the routine visiting hours may be allowed in cases of hardship (e.g. death in the family, or if the visitor must travel more than 150 miles). Special visiting hours must be approved by either the Jail Administrator or the Sheriff prior to the visit. An Inmate Request Form must be submitted forty-eight (48) hours in advance to be considered for a special visit. If approved, the visit will then be scheduled by the Sheriff or Jail Administrator.
- Professional visitors (clergy, attorneys etc.) may visit between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. One (1) hours’ notice must be given for the visit to be approved by the Sheriff or Jail Administrator. Attorneys will be allowed to visit during any reasonable hours. Attorney visits during lock-down must be approved by the Sheriff or Jail Administrator.
- If two or more visitors enter at the same time, the visitation time will be divided between them, or the inmate may choose to spend the entire session with one individual.
Receiving Property/Money
- Friends and family may bring the following items to the Jail and leave them for you between the hours of 8:30 and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Bond money will be accepted at any time, if this money allows your immediate release.
- Money: The Furnas County Jail will only accept cash and money orders.
- Religious, NA or AA Reading material: A reasonable amount of religious, NA or AA reading material may be given to the inmate subject to the approval of the Sheriff.
- Court or Release Clothing: Clothing brought for release will be added to inmate’s property. One set of clothing for court appearances (by order of the judge only).
- No food or hygiene products will be accepted.
- Medication can be accepted if the medication is a valid prescription and is in the original bottle.
- Any handwritten notes must be sent through the mail.
Telephone
- Staff will not accept incoming telephone calls or messages intended for an inmate, unless the caller identifies themselves as the inmate’s Attorney.
- Inmates must purchase data to make telephone calls, or a contact can purchase data on their device for the inmate.
